Eddie and Marta Fernandes

Eddie Fernandes co-founded Riverside International Church in Cascais in 1996 alongside his wife Marta. What began as a single congregation has grown into the Riverside Federation of Churches, with communities in Cascais, Lisbon, Porto, and Albufeira. Other churches planted out of Cascais did not keep the Riverside name yet they continue to blossom in other cities and in other countries.

He holds a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) and trained for twelve years at four Christian institutions across three continents in Portugal, South Africa, and the United States. He is a pastor, chaplain, evangelist, mentor of leaders, and global preacher — having carried the Gospel to more than 75 countries over four decades. Every year he ministers in three to five countries, mostly in Africa, where his heart has its home.

Married to Marta Isabel, a gifted and talented minister in her own right, since 1989, they are the parents of three married daughters and the grandparents of eight grandchildren, whom they love and love to spoil.

Eddie will accept invitations once he passes on the pastoral baton. Until then, his schedule is fully booked. After March 2028, he will gladly accept new invitations.
Eddie is fully fluent in English and Portuguese and can preach or teach in both languages.
